Does MerchantPortfolios.com buy portfolios?
We would not be able to properly represent you if we bought portfolios. When you approach firms that advertise that they buy or finance portfolios, you get the price and terms that is best for THEM not what is best for you! We represent YOU, the seller, in brokering your portfolio or ISO to prospective buyers.

Who is MerchantPortfolios.com?
We are specialists in selling financial services businesses, portfolios, and residual streams. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of GRASP Business Associates, a merger and acquisition firm. Our senior partner hails from the merchant processing industry. Like yourself, our partners are entrepreneurs who have built, bought and sold a variety of businesses.

How does the site work?
The site is designed to showcase various listings of ISOs, portfolios, and residuals for sale. We maintain active contact with hundreds of buyers at any given time. We promote the listings to these buyers as well as to a much larger global marketplace. Sellers can call or e-mail us directly for a CONFIDENTIAL assessment and discussion of their portfolio or ISO.

How does MerchantPortfolios.com get compensated?
We earn a commission from seller upon the sale of their asset. In some cases, we may ask for a retainer or a “flat” fee.

What’s our background in this industry?
The website was launched in December of 2007. We have been engaged in brokering ISOs and portfolios since 2006. Our managing partner, in addition to being an entrepreneur, was involved in the merchant processing industry in various roles for 5 years.

Is this the only industry we work in?
We are specialists in the financial services industry – specifically merchant processing and ATM.

Is this like “E-Bay”™ for merchant portfolios?
MerchantPortfolios.com is somewhat of a hybrid. Unlike “E-Bay”™, when a seller of an ISO or portfolio is evaluating offers, there are usually additional terms attached to each offer such as earnouts, holdbacks, the ability to re-load accounts, attrition schedules, etc. The quality of the buyer and their ability to pay also needs to be evaluated. We wouldn’t want someone who just set up a hotmail account, bidding in real-time on a multimillion dollar portfolio. For those reasons, we do a significant amount of work behind the scenes in evaluating each offer, the terms of the offer, as well as the buyer. We work behind the scenes to get the buyers competing – sharpening up their numbers as well as their terms. It’s only AFTERWARDS that we then present the best offers to the seller.

Does MerchantPortfolios.com just sell portfolios?
No. we sell residual streams, portfolios, and enterprise level ISO’s.

What if I’m already speaking to someone about selling?
Fantastic! We’ll take over from there. The minute the buyer hears we’re involved, they already know that they need to pay more because they know that now they will be competing against multiple buyers! We’ll take over the negotiation with the buyers you were talking with as well as introduce additional qualified buyers to the bidding process.

I won’t sign an exclusive agreement; can I still use your services?
We can get more for you than what you would achieve by negotiating directly with 2-3 buyers on your own. So why wouldn’t you give us an exclusive? After you’ve received the best offer on your own, come back to us and watch us get you more money as well as a more favorable deal structure. Again, we’ll take over the negotiation with the buyers you were talking with as well as introduce additional qualified buyers to the bidding process. At the end of the day, we offer a win-win-win proposition; a win for you, for us, and ultimately for the buyer who truly wants to make the acquisition work.

How do I get started?
It’s as simple as picking up the phone. Call us today and we’ll walk you through the process. Your call will be held in complete confidence. We’d be happy to execute a non-disclosure agreement (confidentiality agreement) PRIOR to the call, if that would make you more comfortable.

Is now a good time to sell?
It is still a seller’s market. We haven’t seen much impact yet from the credit crisis in the United States on the ISOs and funds who seem to be buying and financing acquisitions of ISOs and portfolios. However, similar to the red hot real estate market that instantly turned ice cold, no one knows for sure.

What if my portfolio isn’t portable?
Not a problem. The beauty of listing with us is that you will be exposed to ALL kinds of buyers. Non-portable portfolios are typically attractive assets to buyers of residual streams – aka financial buyers and investors.

Who will you be showing my portfolio too? What information will they be allowed to see?
As you can see, registered users have access to very general metrics of each individual asset, giving prospective buyers a little “taste” as to what’s there. However, the seller’s name, access to merchant IDs, residual reports and financials are not disclosed to buyers until they have been vetted by our team, and the appropriate NDA’s have been executed.

How long will it take to sell my portfolio? or ISO?
Generally speaking, portfolios and residuals have a much shorter sales cycle than ISO’s. Where as an ISO sale may take 4-9 months (staring at the time we have processed, audited, and listed the ISO), portfolios and residuals can sell in as quickly as 30 days from the time we have processed the book and listed it. Again, these time frames may vary AND are also dependent on the amount of data that you have ready for us as well as the level of cooperation we receive from you with subsequent data requests.
